Six workers were killed on the spot after a wall came crashing down at a private construction site at Jasalpur village in Kadi taluka of Mehsana district in Gujarat, said the police. The accident occurred around 1:45 PM on Saturday, and it is reported that the effort to save the lives of those still trapped under the debris has commenced. The ambulances have also arrived for those who are still alive in the crash zone in this incident in Gujarat.
The District Development Officer (DDO) of Mehsana, Dr. Hasrat Jasmine, also recalled the incident and said that about nine to ten workers were buried under the debris as the wall collapsed and the soil was covered on. ”This construction site is part of a private company project,” said Dr. Jasmine of the Accounting Department. “At around 1:45 PM, there were some alarms that some workers were buried in the soil. Among the trapped people, six corpses have been retrieved, and a 19-year-old boy has been pulled alive from the debris. He said that eight to nine people occupied the area where the accident happened. Unfortunately, 2 to 3 persons are still stuck inside, and we are still hoping to get word and hear that they were freed.”
The construction site exists near Kadi town, which is about 37 km away from the Mehsana district headquarters. Several laborers were working at the time of the accident when they were hired to dig an underground pit for a factory tank. The soft soil caved in, leaving them buried alive. Inspector Prahaladsinh Vaghela of the Kadi police station said that the administration has the confidence to rescue the other people still trapped in the soil. People are doing everything possible to rescue the people who were in the disaster; authorities recognize the importance of saving all the workers involved in this disaster.
