New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday permitted interim bail to Abhishek Gupta, the CEO, and coordinator of Rau’s IAS Study Circle, Deshpal Singh, in connection with the three deaths related to the civil services aspirants. The bail was granted until December 7, and a news agency report about the issue in question was added. The Principal District and Sessions Judge passed this order, Anju Bajaj Chandna, and the relief came with a rider that both accused must execute a personal bond of ₹1 lakh with two sureties of the same amount. The court also undertook that Abhishek Gupta deposit ₹2.5 crore with the Red Cross by November 30, which would be at the disposal of the lieutenant governor of Delhi.
The case has emerged from the unfortunate incidents that the three aspirants of civil services, namely Shreya Yadav of Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni of Telangana, and Nivin Dalwin of Ernakulam, Kerala, who drowned in a basement at Old Rajinder Nagar on July 27 being stuck in the water where they were found dead. Later, on September 13, the Delhi High Court allowed interim bail to four co-owners of the basement involved in the incident. They are to be granted bail, and the condition to be inserted for the bail is that they will not be discharged until the 30th of January 2025.
As a result of the above-conspired cases, the Supreme Court has instructed a panel of the Centre to file an interim report in four weeks on how to avoid such incidents in the future. The bench led by AG R Venkataramani stressed the urgent measures and non-recurrence of similar instances. Similarly, Justice DK Sharma of the Delhi High Court has urged the Lt Col to constitute a committee supported by a retired High Court judge to exercise considerable pressure so as to close the Unauthorized coaching centers that were established in basements without sufficient permission all over Delhi.
