On Saturday night, a soda factory in the Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh leaked chlorine gas, which caused panic among the locals. The incident took place near the Shahdol-Anuppur border. The chlorine gas leak impacted between 60 to 70 individuals. The nearby houses were exposed to chlorine gas, which deteriorated people’s health.
Coughing and vomiting were reported by the affected individuals. As soon as the government received the information, they acted swiftly to schedule ambulances to transport the impacted individuals to the hospital.
A gas leak was said to have been the cause of two people’s critical condition. The company’s ambulance took them to the District Hospital of Anuppur. Although it was said that the soda factory used to release gas, but on Saturday the gas leaked. At approximately 8:00 p.m., there was a leak in the Bargawa region, and people experienced difficulties in breathing and a burning sensation in their eyes.
Following the accident, patients were brought to the soda factory’s dispensary, but the doctor wasn’t available. The individuals got first aid from Compounder HD Shukla. The hospital had a mere two beds. Because of the chlorine gas leak, two individuals, Arun Vishwakarma and Vishwanath Kahar, were reportedly in critical condition.
According to Anuppur Deputy Collector Dilip Pandey, “The gas leak caused issues for local residents as well as workers. They were reffered to Anuppur by ambulance due to lack of amenities in the factory’s dispensary.” “The cause of the chlorine gas leak is still unknown. An investigation will be conducted,” the officer stated.
