Raipur: In the high-profile liquor and fake hologram scam in Chhattisgarh, kingpin accused Anwar Dheber and Arunapati Tripathi were present in court today by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). After completing the court trials, both these individuals were sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

The ED, which took Dheber and Tripathi from Meerut in its court, presented a few details concerning the inquiry to the court. The agency disclosed that more information concerning the fake liquor scandal was produced during the interrogation. The ongoing and highly publicised case concerns a major operation of fake alcohol and bogus holograms for VAT avoidance purposes.

Anwar Dheber and Arunapati Tripathi are the main conspirators targeted in this rather grand plan, with the help of which Anil Tuteja is also recognized. This syndicate, which raised the authorities’ interest, is said to have managed a production and distribution network of prohibited drinks, thus threatening not only the people’s health but also the state’s income.

The decision of the court to remand Dheber and Tripathi to judicial custody looks very serious, as are the charges marked against them and the nature of the case that faces the court. The ED is still probing the case, compiling more information, and apprehending those who were part of the scam.

The scandal has stirred public controversy on the authorities’ ability to monitor the situation and the necessity of increasing the number of actions against such scams. The judicial trial is expected to proceed further as the ED is bent on ensuring that all the people involved in the fraudulent business are dealt with and the general effects of this fraud on the economy and safety of residents in the state are also established.
