Kolkata: A 51-year-old man from Kolkata was arrested on Monday for threatening in an e-mail message that he would blow up the office of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna. Urged shopkeeper of BB Ganguly Street in Kolkata, the accused Mohd Zahid allegedly belongs to Begusarai district of Bihar state.
Zahid was arrested in the Bowbazar area in Kolkata, and police seized the mobile phone in which such a threat message was sent by Zahid from his account. Zahid, in the email, also claimed that he was in touch with Al-Qaeda, but from the investigation carried out by the authorities currently, there is no evidence of him having any connections with any terror group. The said e-mail was sent on July 16, and to this date, it is still not clear why Zahid had issued such a threat. Such action has given some rumours implying that Zahid had the intension of framing his relatives through this act.
After his arrest, Zahid is likely to be moved to Patna after a transit remand would be granted. The case has caused some concerns over the threats that some other big strategic public offices are facing, and measures are being taken so seriously. The probe goes on as authorities try to look for more specifics on Zahid’s plan and any affiliations he may have. This case also points out on importance of prospects’ observance and careful examination in order to guarantee the safety of individuals of state authority and their offices.
