An Indian Air Force (IAF) special aircraft, carrying the mortal remains of 45 Indian victims who lost their lives in a tragic fire incident in Kuwait, departed for Kochi. Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh is accompanying the mortal remains. Vardhan is closely working with Kuwaiti authorities to ensure a swift repatriation process.
“MoS Kirti Vardhan Singh, who coordinated with Kuwaiti authorities to ensure swift repatriation, is onboard the aircraft”, confirmed India in Kuwait.
Forty-five Indians were among the 49 people killed in a devastating fire that broke out in a building housing migrant workers in Kuwait’s Mangaf area. An Indian Air Force plane will bring back the bodies of the deceased to India for their last rites.
Among the Indians, 23 were from Kerala, seven from Tamil Nadu, two each from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, and one each from Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh.
A 32-year-old native of Panthalam in Pathanamthitta district, Akash had been working in Kuwait for the past eight years. He came to India on leave a year ago.
Chennasseril Saju Varghese, a 65-year-old man from Konni in Pathanamthitta district, Varghese had been working in Kuwait for 22 years. He is survived by his wife Bindu and two children.
