Prime Minister Narendra Modi took aim at the opposition during his response to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha. Accusing them of lacking the courage to contest elections, Modi remarked, “I see that many of you (Opposition) have even lost the courage to contest elections.” He highlighted the trend of politicians seeking alternative paths for political relevance, mentioning the desire to change seats and a shift towards the Rajya Sabha.

Addressing concerns raised by the Opposition regarding minority representation and initiatives for minority communities, PM Modi emphasized the regional variability in defining minorities. He pointed out that categories like fishermen, animal herders, farmers, and women may not be considered minorities in every region.

Turning his attention to the Opposition’s fixation on societal divisions, Modi questioned their approach and urged them to move beyond divisive rhetoric. He asked, “What has happened to you Dada?” referring to Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. He further questioned the prolonged emphasis on societal divisions, urging them to focus on inclusive governance.

In a veiled jibe at former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, currently leading Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Modi remarked, “Ek hi product baar-baar launch karne ke chakkar mein, Congress ki dukaan tala lagne ki naubat aa gayi hai…(In a bid to re-launch the same product, the shop of Congress is on the verge of being locked).”

The Prime Minister’s remarks underscored a broader call for a shift away from divisive politics and a focus on inclusive governance. As political dynamics continue to evolve, Modi’s critique aimed at the opposition’s changing strategies and the need for a united approach to address societal challenges took center stage in his parliamentary address. The opposition parties are yet to give their response on the same.
