Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel initiated a significant development phase in Nava Raipur by laying the foundation for three pivotal projects: a vast commercial hub, an aerocity, and the Shaheed Smarak memorial. This momentous occasion marked the commencement of what is anticipated to become the nation’s most extensive wholesale commercial market, poised to generate substantial employment opportunities for countless individuals.

During the ceremony, Baghel disclosed that commercial plots within the hub would be allocated to entrepreneurs at Rs 540 per square foot. The government’s primary objective is to promote investment, settlement, and commercial activities within Nava Raipur, and thus, a sprawling commercial hub spanning 1,083 acres will be developed for this purpose.

Additionally, a 216.63-acre aerocity is planned in the villages of Baroda and Ramchandi, adjacent to the Swami Vivekananda Airport. This aerocity aims to enhance passenger facilities in Nava Raipur, expand the commercial airport area, and foster employment opportunities.

Another vital component of this initiative is establishing the Shaheed Smarak memorial on 13 acres in the VIP battalion area of Parsada (Sector-3) in Nava Raipur. The memorial will feature walls engraved with the names of 2,700 martyrs, commemorating their sacrifices for the nation.

In the first phase of the commercial hub, the development will include around 1,000 wholesale commercial shops, each accommodating up to 20 different businesses. Specific zones have been designated for wholesale grocery, incense sticks, gunny bags, pulse mills, and paper trade.

The state government has allocated Rs 5 crore for the commercial hub’s development in the financial year 2023–24, and the city-level infrastructure and initial 125 acres of infrastructure will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 195.51 crore.
