New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday paid homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his fifth death anniversary, calling him the “Ajatshatru of Indian politics”.
Shah visited the Sadaiv Atal Smriti in New Delhi and paid floral tributes to Vajpayee. He also tweeted a tribute to the former PM, saying that he was a “true patriot” and a “visionary leader”.
“Tributes to the great Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji on his death anniversary. He was a true patriot and a visionary leader who dedicated his life to serving the nation. He will always be remembered for his contribution to India’s progress,” Shah tweeted.
In his tribute, Shah also called Vajpayee the “Ajatshatru of Indian politics”. Ajatshatru is a Sanskrit word that means “enemy of enemies”. Shah used this word to describe Vajpayee’s ability to unite people from different backgrounds and ideologies.
“Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was the Ajatshatru of Indian politics. He was a leader who could unite people from different backgrounds and ideologies. He was a true patriot who dedicated his life to serving the nation,” Shah said.
Shah also recalled Vajpayee’s contribution to India’s progress. He said that Vajpayee was the first prime minister to launch the Pokhran-II nuclear tests. He also said that Vajpayee was the architect of the India-Pakistan peace process.
“Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was a true statesman. He was the first prime minister to launch the Pokhran-II nuclear tests. He was also the architect of the India-Pakistan peace process,” Shah said.
Shah concluded his tribute by saying that Vajpayee’s legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
“Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was a great leader and a visionary. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” Shah said.
