Durg: Raipur Steel Plant located in Rasmada Industrial Area witnessed a blast while melting the iron due to which one worker died and two have been seriously injured. The name of the deceased has been reported as Khemlal Sahu.

While the reason for the blast has not been revealed yet, incidents of such blasts in steel plants are not new. Earlier on June 2, 2022, a contractual worker died and one sustained severe burns after a blast in Bhilai steel plant in Durg district. The worker’s union and the kin of the deceased staged a demonstration after the incident.

In another tragic accident, at least 12 workers were injured after a ladle containing hot molten steel, being operated by a crane, fell down and caused an explosion at the Indian Ispat Company in Ravabhata area. The accident left four with severe burn injuries.

The Bhilai Steel Plant is one of the largest steel plants in India. It employs over 40,000 people. This is the second accident to occur at the plant in recent months. In April, a fire broke out at the plant, killing two workers. The government has ordered a probe into the accident. The plant’s management has also been asked to take steps to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.

The accident has raised concerns about safety at the Bhilai Steel Plant. Workers’ unions have demanded that the government take steps to improve safety at the plant. The government has said that it is committed to ensuring the safety of workers at the Bhilai Steel Plant. It has promised to take all necessary measures to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.

In 2016, at least seven workers suffered burn injuries and two of them grievously injured after an explosion at a steel plant at Bajrang Ispat located in Tilda Police Station area.

Such accidents have shocked the state over the years, leaving workers at the mercy of the administration to take steps to ensure their safety.
