New Delhi: India vehemently voiced its disapproval on Thursday regarding the European Parliament’s deliberation on the situation in Manipur, denouncing it as an unwarranted intrusion into the country’s internal affairs. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, responded to inquiries concerning the European Parliament’s discourse on the strife-stricken state of Manipur, stressing that any external interference in India’s domestic matters is not only unacceptable but also indicative of a colonial mindset.
Bagchi highlighted that the European Parliament had conducted a discussion on the recent developments in Manipur and subsequently passed an Urgency Resolution on the matter. This act of intervention was met with strong opposition from India, as it firmly believes that decisions pertaining to its internal affairs should be solely determined by its own sovereign authorities.
The Indian government insists that foreign entities must refrain from meddling in the nation’s internal affairs. This emphasis underscores their belief that such interference not only undermines Indian sovereignty but also sustains a colonial mindset which is deemed irrelevant in today’s era.
