Raipur: While farmers all over India are protesting against the central government to provide MSP, the Chhattisgarh government has set a target of purchasing 110 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy from farmers at minimum support price (MSP) in the current Kharif marketing season.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is keen to provide all benefits to farmers and directs the administration in regard. Tweeting a picture of his work, CM Baghel wrote “they do what they say”.

The state government has set up over 10,000 procurement centers across the state to facilitate farmers in selling their produce. Farmers can sell their paddy at these centers at the MSP of Rs 2,040 per quintal for common grade paddy and Rs 2,060 per quintal for grade-A paddy.

The government has also made arrangements for the transportation of paddy from the procurement centers to the storage facilities. Farmers can transport their paddy to the storage facilities free of cost.

The government under the leadership of CM Baghel has taken several measures to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their produce. These measures include, setting up of a large number of procurement centres, providing free transportation of paddy to the storage facilities, and imposing a ban on the export of paddy

The government’s efforts have been successful in ensuring that farmers get a fair price for their produce. In the previous kharif marketing season, the government had procured 98 lakh MT of paddy from farmers. This year, the government is confident of surpassing the previous record.

The procurement of paddy by the government is a major boost to the rural economy. It helps to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their produce and also helps to create jobs in the rural areas.

The government has also announced a number of other measures to support farmers. These measures include; waiving off the loans of farmers, providing financial assistance to farmers for crop insurance, and providing subsidies for agricultural inputs.
