Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is the much-anticipated action thriller by Yash that has been created fresh buzzes that would be launched in theatres worldwide on August 26. It’s the next Kannada movie that set the talk of the town with its release of the British Board of film Classification (BBFC) certification details.

The BBFC has reportedly rated Toxic as an adult film due to “strong bloody violence and sex”. The classification has given audiences a heads-up of the severity of the content in the gangster film.

The reported certification information says “Toxic” was given the maximum possible grade of “5” for the criteria of violence, injury detail and sex. Threat and horror was rated as four out of five as was language, drugs, sexual violence and sexual threat, suicide and self-harm.

The certificate has raised questions over the final cut that will go into UK cinemas. The movie is said to have been classified as an action drama by the UK, based on the head of a formidable drug cartel whose actions come back to haunt him.

It has also started comparing itself to another action film that released in India recently – Dhurandhar: The Revenge – which earned a “U” BBFC rating. The Ranveer Singh-starrer reportedly got five marks each on violence, threat and horror and language. But its get and harm ratings were said to be three on five.

If just by the BBFC ratings, Toxic might be shown a little more gruesome with graphic violence, gore and sexual content than Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The classification ratings, however, do not indicate the details of a particular scene.

The film has received adult certification, and Yash is leading this cast and with high expectations billing, it has added to the anticipation that is building up in the lead up to its release on August 26.
