New Delhi: The sexual harassment case registered by a minor wrestler against Brij Bhushan has not been withdrawn. According to the accuser’s father, the reports that came out yesterday were completely fake. Reports had surfaced claiming that the case against Brij Bhushan had been withdrawn. But the father clarified that the news was completely false and that he had not withdrawn the complaint. He said that he will be fighting for justice.
Renowned wrestler Sakshi Malik also confirmed that the complaint against Brij Bhushan had not been withdrawn. Speaking to reporters in Delhi, she emphasized that the demand for his arrest remained unchanged. She even said that the protesters would continue their struggle until justice was served. Sakshi clarified that she had resumed her work as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Railways but remained committed to the protest.
Earlier reports suggested that the minor wrestler had retracted her complaint, but recent updates indicate that she has provided a fresh statement before a magistrate, which holds evidentiary value in court. The father of the minor girl expressed the toll this ordeal has taken on their family, stating that the harassment by the WFI chief continues to disturb his daughter, leaving her unable to find peace.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is facing sexual harassment allegations. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. During the wrestlers’ protest at Jantar Mantar, a man claiming to be the uncle of the minor had accused the protesting wrestlers of misleading his family and using them to frame Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. However, his claims have faced criticism, and the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief has demanded action against him for revealing the identity of a minor.
Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, along with other wrestlers, have resumed their duties as OSD with the Indian Railways while continuing their protest. Sakshi clarified that she remains steadfast in the fight for justice and urged against spreading false news.
The protesting wrestlers, including Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, as well as Asian Games gold medalist Vinesh Phogat, have been demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan, accusing him of sexually harassing multiple female wrestlers, including a minor.
