INDIA: The growth of coronavirus is rapidly pacing upwards. The increasing number of cases has left the state without any choice but to ensure ‘social distancing’ as the sole social vaccine to prevent the expansion of the virus. India stands at the 10th position with 1,58,333 cases. The death toll mounted to 4,534 with 67,749 recovered cases.

On Thursday, India reported over 6,500 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra alone reported most of the fresh COVID-19 cases with  2,190. The national capital also witnessed a huge surge in new cases recorded the highest one day spike with 792 cases.

Death toll has increased to 4,531 after 194 deaths were recorded in a single day—- highest so far. Of the 194 people who died, More than 50% deaths were recorded from Maharashtra alone, 23 deaths were recorded in Gujarat, 15 registered from Delhi and 12 were from Uttar Pradesh.

The number of active coronavirus patients in the country zoomed to 86,110. India stands at fifth position in highest number of active cases in the world and the numbers continue to rise with no sign of relief.

Maharashtra is the most affected state in the country with 36% coronavirus cases. The state confirmed more than 2,000 fresh cases and 105 new deaths in last 24 hours. With over 56,000 cases, Maharashtra has emerged as the worst-affected state and capital Mumbai has over 32,000 cases alone. Cities like Pune and Nashik are the other hotspots in Maharashtra. With 105 deaths in 24 hours, the number of deaths in the state rose to 2190, highest in India.

Tamil Nadu is the second worst-impacted state where 786 people have been found infected. With this, the total number of cases now reaches to 14,753 in the state. Whereas Delhi surpassed Gujarat on Thursday to become the third worst hit in the country with 15257 confirmed cases.

 Gujarat stands in the 4th position with 15,195 cases of the novel coronavirus and 7,549 people have recovered from the virus. However, Gujarat records maximum number of deaths in the country after Maharashtra.

While the top ten worst hit states account for more than 80% of the total cases in the country, many other states are also reporting substantial numbers of patients indicating a much faster transmission of the virus in the country.

The case of coronavirus in Chhattisgarh has surged up with 369 cases including 83 people who have been recovered and discharged. The state has recorded only 1 death till date. There have been some complaints regarding the mismanagement in the quarantine facilities in the state.

Till now, no vaccine has been developed to prevent the progression of coronavirus. The people are required to follow the guidelines to prevent the transmission of the virus.
