Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched ‘Krishna Kunj’ today, an environment-friendly initiative to increase green cover in the urban areas of the state. On the occasion of Janmashtami festival, the chief minister said that the rapid felling of trees in the urban areas in the name of development has created a huge environmental problem.
CM Baghel tweeted, “We all took the blessings and prayed for the welfare of everyone through Krishna Kunj program”.
Trees like neem, and banyan tree, grow at a fast pace and release oxygen in the environment. CM further emphasized that the initiative will increase the number of trees and reach more people as trees have cultural significance.
So far, 162 places have been identified for ‘Krishna Kunj’ in the state which include 10 urban bodies of Raipur; Kurra, Kharora, Birgaon, Attari, Arang, Telibandha, Chandkhuri, Urla, and Kurud Samoda.
