New Delhi: India recorded 3,303 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 39 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday (April 28th), the country saw a total of 2,563 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate to around 98.75 per cent and total recoveries data reached 4,25,28,126.

The total active cases of COVID-19 in India have risen to 16,980 (0.04%) the ministry data showed today. Yesterday, the active cases registered were 16,279. The total Covid-related deaths in the country rose to 5,23,693 with 39 additions. Kerala also added a backlog of 26 deaths. In India, the first death due to the COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020.

The daily positivity rate is 0.66 per cent on April 28th. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 83,64,71,748 samples have been tested up to April 27th for COVID-19. Of these 4,97,669 samples were tested on Wednesday.

Amid a fresh surge in daily Covid-19 cases in Delhi, traders’ associations across the national capital have brought back virus protocols, including regular sanitization, ensuring proper wearing of masks in marketplaces and putting up posters of dos and don’ts.
