Bhopal: After battling scarcity during the second wave of coronavirus, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the state had built 163 oxygen plants, generating over 182 metric tons (MT) of the life-saving gas every day. “Oxygen production plants were not available in any of the state’s government hospitals as of March 2020. In different districts of the state, 163 oxygen plants with a generation capacity of 182 MT per day have now been begun,” Chouhan said in an official statement on Monday.
When all 202 plants in the state will start operating, about 230 MT of medical oxygen will be produced daily. The remaining 39 oxygen plants will be completed by the end of this month, according to the CM. In government medical colleges in a total of 360 MT liquid oxygen storage facility is now accessible. Apart from that, 34 district hospitals in the state are getting liquid oxygen tanks, each with a capacity of 6-kilo liters and a total capacity of 248 MT.
Chouhan further stated that 13,956 oxygen concentrators have been made available in government hospitals and 1,350 in state medical institutes. He also mentioned that the Centre had provided 3,860 oxygen concentrators. Madhya Pradesh recorded 6 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 7, 92,690, while the death toll remained steady at 10,523, according to health officials.
