The Ministry of Culture has identified Jantar Mantar observatory in Jaipur as a host site for India Biennale 2026, which is set to take place in the coming days. The festival’s official website was updated on Thursday to include it on the list of sites where people will be able to enjoy the 108 days of art and architecture and design celebration there.

The Biennale will start on 4 December and will be presented at different sites in the city. The lawns of the Lodhi Gardens, the Qutub Minar complex and Agrasen ki Baoli are other venues that attract guests. The Red Fort and Safdarjung Tomb are other popular destinations that are visited by guests.

Various galleries, embassy precincts and private cultural spaces will also be included which will display exhibitions and cultural activities around Delhi.

Purana Qila to Serve as Festival Hub

The one that will be organised at Purana Qila, the historic fort built in the 16th century, looks forward to be the mainstay of the Biennale project of the Ministry of Culture.

The purpose of the event is to gather together architectural and design companies, public and private arts and culture companies with a view to facilitating a range of creative practices and approaches.

Major Cultural Institutions to Participate

The expected participants in the event include the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Kiran Nadar museum of Art, Nita Mukesh Ambani cultural centre, JSW Foundation and DAG (Delhi Art Gallery).

Jantar Mantar will be a part of the list of historical sites in Delhi during the festival, giving context to astronomy’s rich past on the planet while also showcasing its present-day artistic and architectural forms.

Spanning across various historic monuments and cultural institutions, India Biennale 2026 is poised to feature a comprehensive array of creative expression within the capital and the venue will become an iconic attraction not to be missed.
