The former Deputy PM L K Advani and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia are among the rare celebrities whose names appeared in the list of 33.13 lakh who received notices during the delhi polling booths’ Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The notifications refer to discrepancies in the information given on voters’ enumeration cards, or information which could not be matched with their previous SIR voter list from 2002. The letters are aimed as part of verification process and not a bar to inclusion in the final electoral list, election officials have said.
It is reported that Pratibha, daughter of Advani and his daughter-in-law Geetika have received notifications after their names did not appear in the electoral list of 2002, however, his son, Jayant cleared this mapping. All four are registered voters in New Delhi Assembly constituency.
Sisodia’s wife Seema and their son Meer have also got notices. Officials said that Meer’s notice applies to a mismatch in his parent’s name and Seema’s note says it’s to do with a problem with her name. The Election Commission has termed such situations as ‘logical discrepancies’ or gaps in the electoral-roll mapping done previously.
Other big-time Delhi voters have also received such notices like Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, leader of AAP Arvind Kejriwal and former Union minister Kapil Sibal. Gupta is a verified case whose election进入册 is also cleared for the final roll for Shalimar Bagh constituency after scrutinising her documents.
The Delhi draft electoral roll was released on August 31 and claims and objections will continue. The final electoral roll will be released on November 4. The SIR exercise too is being used to file cases in the Supreme Court, where an application for transparency in the issuing of notices and the basis for issuing these has been filed.
