A political row broke out on Sunday since the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Abhijeet Dipke had shared a satire of resignation letter in the name of stepping down as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister. The post was a criticism against the BJP-led state government and was met with a mixed response on social media.
Dipke retweeted the letter on X when he claimed some influencers hecked him at Balaghat.Dipke is believed to have allegedly been heckled by some influencers in Balaghat and shared the letter on X. He went to the district to see parents of children from the tribal community that died after an infection.
The fake letter was just similar to a valid resignation document. Under his signature in it, Dipke penned that he was resigning with immediate effect and sarcastically thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for having given him the opportunity to serve the state, and for having called him “the failure”.
He then spelt out the pitfalls of the state government, (Mohan Yadav) as well as other ministers in his cabinet. Some of the problems cited were Sagar hooch tragedy and deaths in connection with infection in Balaghat.
The post immediately became the subject of an online debate. Dipke’s elements received support from various social media users against BJP Government for the various issues raised in the satirical letter.
There was, however, criticism of Dipke for supposedly using an official-looking letterhead. A handful of users requested that this format be reconsidered and that it be made legal because is could result in confusion with regards to the authenticity of the document.
A case be filed against Dipke over the alleged misuse of letterhead was also asked by BJP worker Vignesh Shishir.
Since then, the debate over political satire and social media activism and the extent to which an official-looking document can critique elected governments has broadened into a controversy.
