India ended at 300/5 with Dhruv Jurel and Saransh Jain in the middle in the 2nd test against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Devdutt Padikkal continued his stunning run of form as the Indian batter slammed another century on day one of the second Test against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
The left-handed batter scored 117 runs off 190 deliveries, becoming the highest-scoring visiting No. 3 batter in Sri Lanka during the two-match Test series.
Padikkal broke the record previously held by former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming, who had scored 307 runs. Padikkal has now amassed 228 runs in the ongoing series.
He has also become the first player from a visiting team to score multiple centuries in Sri Lanka while batting at No. 3 during a two-match Test series.
The 27-year-old also surpassed Rahul Dravid’s tally of 321 runs, scored during India’s tour of New Zealand in 1998-99. He now stands seventh among Indian batters with multiple centuries in a series against Sri Lanka, behind Vinod Kambli, Mohammed Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Captain Shubman Gill scored 50, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 45 and 43, respectively.
