A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has publicly raised his doubts about his own government in Madhya Pradesh regarding the repairing the damaged bridge on the Bhopal-Jabalpur highway.
Former minister and BJP MLA Ajay Vishnoi, representing Patan assembly constituency, has said that PWD minister Rakesh Singh is being lazy about the issue, as the bridge has been damaged for more than 6 months.
Vishnoi in a post on X has stated that the reconstruction of the highway has not started yet as it was not in the Minister’s list of priorities.
Closing of the bridge has hampered the movement levely traffic and caused frequent road accidents and loss of life by diverting traffic through Patan, he added.
However, the criticism was levied after a fatal road accident in the vicinity of Guru Pipariya village in limits of Patan police station. Officials say that a truck, driving over the speed limit, hit a vans head-on, leaving seven members of the same family and the driver seriously injured.
One of the injured later succumbed to injuries during treatment.
After the accident, Vishnoi had an interaction with the Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and handed him a memorandum calling for prompt measures.
He suggested that the long pending Patan-Jabalpur road and Patan-Mankhedi road project be prioritized by the Chief Minister as the road is already under the state 10-year development plan. The tendering and construction process should be started immediately to avoid further accidents and ensure safety for the people residing in the region, BJP legislator added.
