Underlining the proposal sent by government for discussions, Union Minister Jitendra Singh reiterated that the Centre is ready for discussions anytime in a big outreach to the students protesting at Jantar Mantar.
“The government has sent four formal proposals for discussions with their representatives since last afternoon…This is a standing invitation to all our youth friends that the government is ready for discussions on all issues at your convenience, at any time,” Jitendra Singh said.
Interacting with the media, he added that his fellow minister J.P. Nadda would also join him during the discussions. Mentioning that they do not stand on prestige, the minister said that the discussions can either take place at J.P. Nadda’s office or residence. In the same statement, he pressed that, by way of discussion, we will progress towards a solution. “This is a part of the series of continuous steps taken by the government for the welfare of the students. Humbly, I appeal to you all to come and have discussions,he added.”
Meanwhile, addressing a press briefing at the protest site, CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the police informed him this morning that the Union Minister J.P. Nadda wanted to hold discussions and invited them to his residence. refusing to go to anyone’s house or office.
Das, however, said that the CJP remained open for dialogue and was willing to have a discussion at a neutral venue near the protest site if there was a political concern. “We will also seek a sovereign guarantee from the government that no fresh FIRs are filed or punitive action is taken against any peaceful protester associated with this movement,” he said.
On a similar note, earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced fast track court proceedings to deliver swift justice and stringent punishment for those involved in the paper leak.
Earlier on Tuesday, CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke questioned the government’s decision behind stating talks with its hawkish outfit while simultaneously carrying out a brutalities on protesters.
