The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrest five more persons allegedly connected to a terror module of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) which brings the total number of accused persons to 13 in the terror outfit’s case.
The arrests came as an outcome of the police remand of eight people arrested in coordinated UPA under a numerous police raids on July 3 across Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
The ATS has said that the investigations have revealed that some of the accused have been training at the Jamia Abul Hasan Madrasa in Khadiyasan, Patan since 2023 on how to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and bomb detonation mechanism.
According to officials, the group carried out several tests with explosives timer devices in various places between 2023 and February 2026 at different times. The accused was allegedly procuring the raw materials for the making of gunpowder from online pages and local markets. Mohammad Amin Shera, one of the accused, was also recovered for forensics examination for any material which was suspected of being used in the making of the IED.
The five suspects, arrested recently, include Bilal Abidbhai Shera, Mohammad Ayyub Kadiwala, Mohammad Ayyubbhai Sunsara alias Mohammad Khali, Shafi Raees Mukhi alias Shafi Chhapi, Mohammad Hasan Hanifbhai Kardiya alias Hasan Haiderpuri.
In Gujarat and Rajasthan, ATS and police officials discussed with several suspects and talked to several witnesses before arresting the suspects. A court has ordered the agency eight days to let police continue interrogations.
The investigators also claimed that Bilal Shera had sourced a pen drive containing speeches, videos and literature of JeM founder Masood Azhar out of which it was later printed and circulated by the other accused.
