Actor Prakash Raj will join the Cockroach Janta Party protest at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park on Sunday. The protest is a part of CJP’s nationwide campaign, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged failures in the education sector.
The protest comes amid concerns raised by the CJP over examination-related controversies, including alleged paper leaks, examination irregularities and reports of student suicides linked to competitive entrance tests.
The organisation has also announced another protest at Jaipur’s Shaheed Smarak on June 15. The CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the group remains hopeful of receiving official permission from local authorities for the Jaipur event. According to him, the CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and social activist Sonam Wangchuk are expected to participate in the protest.
The CJP has appealed to citizens to participate in the protests carrying copies of the Constitution and the national flag as symbols of their commitment to educational reforms and accountability.
Earlier this week, founder Abhijeet Dipke announced CJP’s planning to expand protests to several cities, including Lucknow, Amritsar, Jaipur and Bengaluru, if the Union Education Minister does not step down.
The announcement followed a protest organised at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar last week. Another demonstration is scheduled at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) in Pune after obtaining police permission.
Dipke has alleged that issues such as examination paper leaks and concerns surrounding the CBSE re-evaluation process reflect deeper problems within the system. He claimed that a large number of students have been affected by examination-related controversies and called for greater transparency and accountability.
The organisation has stated that it will continue its nationwide campaign until its demands regarding reforms and accountability in the education sector are addressed.
