Opposition parties gave the Centre a big hammering on Saturday after three Indian naval personnel were killed in military operations off India’s coast which damaged merchant shipping. NCP’s (SP) leader & MP Supriya Sule urged the government to take more action and showed condolences to the affected families.
The comments followed India’s reportedly summoning of a senior US official in New Delhi and raising concerns over the incident yesterday. The incident is “deeply tragic” and the country has to be united in supporting the citizens of the country working overseas, Supriya Sule said. “Indian lives were lost; it is a serious issue which the government is supposed to be firm about,” she added.
Sule said that this matter isn’t tied to diplomacy but relates to the safety and wellbeing of the Indian nationals. The families of the people who died are entitled to support, accountability and accountability, she said, and the need of the government to be active on the subject was emphasized.
