On Monday, India alerted Indian citizens against travelling to Iran, and recommended the immediate repatriation of their citizens by all available means of transport. The alert came after recent heightened military tension in the region after Israel and Iran continued to exchange fire with each other.
The Embassy of India in Tehran issued a similar statement on social media earlier stating that it has made repeated requests for caution for the Indian citizens. Taking into account the latest developments within the region, the Embassy said “All Indian citizens are advised against planning any trip to Iran until further notice”.
The advisory also advised those Indians who are already in or visiting Iran to leave through the available modes of transport. The authorities have urged the public to keep a close watch on the official information updates and contact the Indian mission for help if any.
The threat comes as Israel was reported as attacking targets in central and western Iran Monday. The strikes were initiated amid missile attacks they say were fired from Tehran, in yet another escalation of standoffs between the two nations.
No evacuation operation is called for yet by the Ministry of External Affairs, but the situation is being closely monitored. Opening the embassy is expected to go on as the embassy receives updates from the ground.
Turkey has issued travel advisories for conflicts in a country over and over again in order to ensure safety and security to its citizens abroad. Concerns on the regional security are highlighted, with the possibility of risks to foreign nationals, in the latest advisory.
