The pre-monsoon activity has increased in number, resulting in heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and strong wind over the past 24 hours at over 20 districts of Madhya Pradesh. The sudden swing in weather condition has been a boon to rescuers till now, as it has brought much respite from the extreme conditions of summer heat, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast unstable weather in the state for now. The three cyclonic circulation systems in the region are likely to keep on bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to many places.
This weather department issued warning to all 52 districts with reported wind spline range in between 40 to 60 kmph with chances of lightning. Police have asked residents to be alert, especially when it is a thunderstorm weather or during heavy rain.
Heavy rain with severe thunderstorm is anticipated in seven districts – Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sehore, Dewas, Harda and Betul which has issued an orange alert. These are areas where residents are warned not to use outdoor areas, stay away from trees, electrical poles and other susceptible buildings during bad weather.
In the meantime, Bhopal, Indore are expected to experience thunderstorms & rain showers with a ‘Yellow Alert’. The weather conditions are expected to be very similar in Malwa-Nimar, Gwalior, Mahakoshal, Bundelkhand, Vindhya, and Shahdol regions.
The weather change happened as a result of three active cyclonic circulations steering moisture from the Arabian Sea as well as the Bay of Bengal, meteorologists say. This has led to the onset of pre-monsoon activity throughout the state, bringing relief in the form of rainfall and drop in temperature also before the advent of monsoon.
