In Madhya Pradesh’s capital city of Indore, the land dispute went unchipped, and the old man, whom it was believed was assaulted at a time of conflict over the property, died due to his wounds. The incident left all the members of the family and villagers panicked and started a road blockade of the Khurai-Sagar road accusing the police of failing to name all the accused people in the FIR and demanding for immediate arrest.
The incident was in the Amawani village in the Motinagar police station area. The victim’s family told the police that the deceased Nandram Patel had been embroiled in an ongoing disagreement regarding land. Relatives said a group of people tried to forcefully occupy the contested land. A dispute ensued, with Patel turning to a counterproductive argument that degenerated into a feud.
Members of the family reported that an elderly man was attacked by several persons using wooden poles, sticks and sharp objects resulting in terrible injuries. Its diameter is 4 meters (13 feet and 3 inches) and its height is 12 meter (39 feet and 3 inches) tall. Despite medical efforts, he died on Friday due to his injuries.
After the death, many family and villagers members joined the hospital and then handed over to the Sagar-Khurai road and there road blockade was made demanding stern action against the accused. Protestors claimed police were not providing names of everyone involved in the attack in the official complaint.
The road closure affected traffic extensively, bringing to the scene some senior police and administrative officials. The protesters accepted to end the protest after long talks and pledges by the security forces that the issue would be examined fairly.
They said police are investigating and teams have been dispatched to keep track of the accused. Police have stated that they will crack down on individuals responsible for the assault.
