A case that has been the topic of much discussion in Bhopal, the Twisha Sharma Death case has been taking shape again, with legal proceedings between both sides regarding digital and financial evidence. The case has gone in a different direction recently, as several applications have been submitted to the court by the parties concerned.
Twisha Sharma’s lawyers have now submitted an important application to have the convicted call detail records (CDRs) between May 12 and 20 examined and preserved. The application further demands that CCTV footage from the post-mortem at AIIMS be kept to preserve critical evidence.
Later, Twisha’s family claimed that Giribala Singh, within the 46 days since the incident, approached as many as 46 influential figures, raising eyebrows of some possible interference in the investigation. The family feels it is necessary to keep Call Records and CCTV footage in order to get to the bottom of the situation.
Meanwhile, Giribala Singh’s lawyer has filed two counter-applications in court. These applications aim to gain access to Twisha Sharma’s call history, family information, details of her tuition fee-earnings, and bank account information. The defense says that such records may shed light on the situation surrounding the case.
One of the issues is a purported financial deal. Giribala Singh has maintained that she deposited around ₹7 lakh in the account of Twisha Sharma. The defense is now asking for bank statements as evidence of the transaction and to track the flow of money.
The other items of evidence filed in court seem to shift the focus of the case further away from the traditional evidence and focus it on digital and financial evidence. But Twisha’s family is claiming the men were forcing her, while the accused side is stepping up with bank statements and messaging records to justify their innocence. The court’s decision on these applications is now eagerly awaited.
