New Delhi: CBI on Wednesday, made two more arrests in connection to NEET UG 2026 paper leak. A Latur-based doctor and a coaching centre faculty member were arrested bringing the total number of individuals apprehended to 13.
The arrested medical professional has been identified as Dr. Manoj Shirure, who allegedly played a key role in facilitating leaked Chemistry questions for three students, including the son of a coaching centre owner. Investigation revealed Shirure acquired the question paper from another accused P.V. Kulkarni.
The second accused, Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, works as a physics faculty member at the Dr. Abhang Prabhu Medical Academy (APMA), a prominent coaching institute in Pune. Shah reportedly obtained leaked Physics questions for crucial medical entrance exam from Manisha Havaldar, who is already in custody.
A case was registered on May 12, 2026, following a written complaint from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education.
Manisha Waghmare, a beauty salon owner, was arrested on May 14 for allegedly facilitating the distribution of the leaked Chemistry and Biology questions. The others arrested are Dhananjay Lokhande from Ahilyanagar and Shubham Khairnar from Nashik in Maharashtra; Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal, and Dinesh Biwal from Jaipur, Rajasthan; and Yash Yadav from Gurugram, Haryana.
After taking over the case from the state police, the CBI immediately constituted specialized teams and launched massive search operations across the country. Around 49 locations have been raided and gadgets and incriminating documents used in the process have been seized.
Investigation that spanned across multiple cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik and Pune helped trace accused involved in leaking the Physics, Chemistry and Biology questions.
