Tehran: Tehran dismissed reports suggesting that a proposed peace agreement would fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the key waterway that carried around 20% of global oil shipments before the war.

Iran’s media agency linked to the Revolutionary Guards, said that “in the event of a possible agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will still be under Iranian management”. It further added that while Tehran had agreed to restore ship traffic to prewar levels, “this does not in any way mean ‘free passage’ to the pre-war situation.”

Reports added that, Iran in principle has agreed to relinquish its stockpile of highly enriched uranium under a U.S.-Iran framework announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. Iran currently holds around 970 pounds of uranium enriched to 60%, the report said. So far there has been no official statement by the Uranium backed nation or the US officials.

Further, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised U.S. President Donald Trump for his “extraordinary efforts to pursue peace” following a telephone call with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan and Pakistan. He added that the deliberation offered an opportunity to exchange views on regional situation and ways to achieve lasting stability. He also welcomed US and Iran to host the next round of peace talks.

Trump on Saturday said the agreement had been “largely negotiated” and suggested an official announcement could come “shortly.” He indicated that discussions were focused on final technical and political hurdles before formalizing the arrangement.

The final aspects and specific details of the peace deal are currently being debated, with an official announcement expected soon.

Meanwhile, tensions linked to the Iran conflict escalated sharply as the White House indicated heightened military preparedness and regional powers intensified efforts to avoid a broader war. Iran in response has reportedly shut down portions of its western airspace until Monday morning through a NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions), intensifying speculation over possible military action in the region.

Earlier, Iran’s Defence Ministry spokesperson Reza Talaei-Nik pressed that the US must accept Iran’s demands to avoid further escalation warning confrontation would trigger further losses.  The remarks also told US President Donald Trump will continue to fail unless Washington changes its approach toward Tehran.
