Baramati: An aircraft used for training purposes and accommodating two passengers crashed in Baramati, Maharashtra, on Wednesday. Sources reported that the trainee pilot survived the accident since he ejected himself from the plane prior to the accident.
The Pune SP, Sandip Gill, said that the aircraft, which is owned by the Redbird Flight Training Organisation (FTO), had made an emergency “hard landing” in Gojubavi village. Although the aircraft suffered extensive damage, the pilot was unharmed. The police and emergency personnel were immediately dispatched to the crash site to examine the scene and conduct their investigations.
Baramati’s Airspace in the Spotlight
The latest crash is a new development in the history of aviation accidents in Baramati. Just months ago, the nation was rocked by a tragedy that claimed the life of a prominent politician. On January 28, 2026, the NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar lost his life in the charter flight crash at Baramati Airport.
In the case of the previous disaster, a Learjet 45 belonging to VSR Ventures was the plane in question. This particular flight had taken off from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai but crashed on its second attempt to land. The crash investigation revealed that visibility and foggy weather conditions played a significant role in the crash, resulting in the death of Mr. Pawar and four others onboard. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is scheduled to carry out an investigation of the Redbird FTO to establish the cause of the crash on Wednesday.
