New Delhi: The National Testing Agency has officially cancelled the NEET UG 2006 examination conducted on May 3rd, adding that the exam will be re-conducted. The decision came after concerns of alleged paper leak and irregularities in the conduct were flagged.

In its statement, the NTA said that the decision was taken after inputs received from “central investigative agencies and findings shared by law enforcement authorities examining the matter.” The officials asserted that cancelling NEET UG 2026 was necessary to preserve transparency and fairness in the national-level medical entrance examination. Authorities added that genuine candidates should not suffer because of alleged irregularities in the examination process.

The next date of the re-exam will be announced shortly. It is worth noting that no additional exam fee will be levied on the candidates to reappear for the NEET UG 2006 exam.

The NEET UG 2006 cancellation is rooted to allegations of large-scale malpractices, primarily centers on pre circulated guess papers that reportedly matched 120 questions in Chemistry and showed significant overlaps in Biology. Investigation revealed this guess material reached coaching centres in Sikar, Rajasthan up to a month in advance and was allegedly sold to aspirants for sums as high as 730,000 even the night before the exam, prompting investigations by Rajasthan’s Special Operations Group that included raids and questioning of multiple individuals.
