Delhiites and the people living in regions around it had to witness a drastic change in the weather on Wednesday morning. Following a tough week of extremely high temperatures almost touching the mark of 44 degrees Celsius, winds of varying strengths, followed by rains and storms, provided some respite from the harsh heat.

The weather pattern suddenly changed at an early hour of the day when the area was filled with heavy clouds and winds of strength 30-40 km/h, Noida and Ghaziabad too faced the same weather with the heat wave finally breaking its record. The India Meteorological Department shared glimpses of rain, thunder, lightning and winds over Delhi on X.

Weather Alerts and Effect on Regions

Weather alerts have been regularly issued by the IMD due to the movement of a Western Disturbance through Northwest India.

Delhi, Gurgaon and Faridabad: Issued a yellow alert, which will remain valid until about 8:30 AM, for the residents to keep themselves updated on the weather changes.

Noida and Ghaziabad: Have received a comparatively severe orange alert due to the greater amount of atmospheric activity in these areas.

Forecasts

According to meteorologists, the predicted highest temperature of 41 degrees celcius would be reduced to about 38 degree celcius. This change should allow for some respite in the coming days. Although the rainfall has created some waterlogging in certain regions and has delayed people from leaving their homes during early mornings, there is an overall sense of relief felt by everyone. According to the IMD, the rain and clouds will continue all day long, suspending the onset of the early summer heatwave.
