New Delhi: The intense heat wave in Delhi-NCR appears to be intensifying. According to the Meteorological Department, the situation could worsen in the coming days, with residents likely to face intense heat and heatwaves. The weather in the capital was relatively cool on Tuesday morning (April 21). The temperature was recorded at around 24 degrees Celsius at 6 am. The mild coolness and clear skies brought some relief, but this relief will not last long. As the day progresses, temperatures will rise rapidly, and by noon, the heat will be felt to the brim.
According to Meteorological Department data, a heat wave is likely to occur in April this year, marking the fifth time in the last 16 years. The department has warned that heatwave conditions could develop this week, prompting a yellow alert. It’s worth noting that April 2022 was the hottest month on record, with heat waves lasting 11 days throughout the month. Similar conditions are expected this year as well.
According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures will rise rapidly during the afternoon, potentially leading to intense heat and heatwave-like conditions. While the intense sun and heat will trouble people during the day, some relief is expected in the evening. However, the heat will persist at night, and temperatures will not drop significantly.
