CHANDIGARH – In a landmark decision towards moving from being a national leader to a global benchmark in public education, the government of Punjab on Thursday formally launched Mission Samrath 4.0. This landmark program was rolled out by Punjab’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Manish Sisodia, who served as Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.

Technological Support for Real-Time Accountability

The key feature of this new phase of the mission is the automatic SMS system. For the first time, parents of children studying in government schools would be receiving messages about their attendance or absence each day. To make sure that not even a single child slips through the cracks, the Punjab government has set up a follow-up process:

7-Day Absence: Initiation of personal contact with district officials.
15-Day Absence: Marked as an issue for state-level intervention.

“A child is not a statistic,” as observed by Minister Bains during the launch. This degree of supervision assures continued learning as well as safety for the child.Mission Samrath 4.0, building on its previous success, aims to develop essential skills among students in grades 3 to 8 in reading, writing, and mathematics. This mission involves a unique method of teaching based on levels instead of age groups. Mission Samrath currently caters to almost 12 lakh children and involves more than 70,000 teachers annually.
