Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and Civil Lines Police in an operation that occurred jointly arrested two suspected drug traffickers and recovered more than 50 kilograms of ganja in their possession. The police also seized 2 lakh of cash, two cellular phones, and one Toyota car and they had a total value of around 32.67 lakh.

As officials say, a tip-off was received by the Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit on February 14 that two people were बैठे in a four-wheeler vehicle on an open ground behind the Durga Manch on Canal Road, in the area of the Civil Lines police station. They were also said to be awaiting the customers to sell the contraband.

Based on the information, Deputy Commissioner of police (Crime and cyber) Smritik Rajnala and Deputy Commissioner of police (Central Zone) Umesh Prasad Gupta gave orders to their respective teams to confirm the input and respond appropriately. A police force came to the location and arrested the two suspects to question them.

The accused had identified themselves as Hrishikesh alias Rishi Saroj and Himanshu Damle. During the search of the vehicle, the officers found that there are numerous packets of ganja hidden in the car.

The cash and other items were also seized together with 50.94 kilogram of ganja. Civil Lines Police Station has registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act namely Section 20(C) and Section 29.

According to the authorities, additional research is being performed in order to trace the backward and forward connections of the drug supply chain and other people that are engaged in the drug trafficking business.
