Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, paid special prayers to the old and holy Badwale Mahadev Temple in Bhopal on the auspicious day of Mahashivratri. In the morning the Chief Minister went to the temple, conducted jalabhishek, and participated in complicated rituals devoted to Lord Shiva. He was so immersed in devotion that he prayed to the prosperity, peace and general well-being of the people of the state.
There is a great Shiva temple in Bhopal named Badwale Mahadev Temple that also receives a huge number of worshippers during the Mahashivratri. The spiritual excitement was further intensified by the presence of the Chief Minister who was present at the temple premises, which was filled with the chants of Har Har Mahadev all morning long.
In the ceremony, Vedic rituals like Rudrabhishek were performed by the priests during the recitation of sacred mantras. The Chief Minister was accompanied by people in offering prayers and extended his deep greetings to the people on the occasion.
In an interview with the media, Yadav explained that Mahashivratri was a festival that was symbolic of devotion, faith and submission to Lord Shiva. He said that the blessings of Lord Shiva would keep on helping Madhya Pradesh on the path of peace, progress and development.
In the rest of the state, masses of believers flocked big temples to be a part of the festival. The main shrines like Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, Omkareshwar Temple also recorded massive attendance with thousands of people queuing to get a glimpse of the deity and to perform special rites and worships on this sacred day.
