Dhamtari. Four soldiers of the 201st Cobra Battalion tragically died in a horrific road accident near the Khapri bypass in the Arjuni police station area of ​​Dhamtari district. One soldier is reported to be seriously injured. Upon receiving the information, the Arjuni police immediately rushed the injured soldiers to the district hospital for treatment and the bodies of the deceased soldiers to the district hospital for post-mortem.

Commandos from the Central Reserve Police Force’s elite CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) unit were involved in the accident that occurred around 8 am near Khapri village on the Dhamtari bypass on Jagdalpur-Raipur National Highway, Superintendent of Police Suraj Singh Parihar said.

According to reports, a Desire car carrying soldiers from the 201st Battalion in Jagdalpur collided with a roadside truck on the Khapri bypass. The impact was so severe that the car was completely shattered. After considerable effort using a gas cutter, the soldiers trapped inside were rescued. Two soldiers died on the spot in the tragic accident, while two seriously injured soldiers succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital. One soldier is reported to be seriously injured in the accident. Police are investigating the matter.

The deceased included CRPF personnel Saurabh Tomar, Mukesh Kumar and Rajkumar God, and the driver, Heeralal Nagar, he said, adding that another CoBRA commando, Abhiman Rai (28), was injured and has been referred to Raipur for further treatment.

The CRPF and its elite unit are extensively deployed in the Bastar region, comprising seven districts, for anti-Naxal operations.
