Dhurandhar by Ranveer Singh has enjoyed a good comeback at the world box office with the help of Christmas holiday season. In its fourth week on theatrical release, the movie still shows remarkable momentum even in foreign markets where it is doing better than $1 million daily. In India, the movie is bringing in a gross estimated 20-25 crore per day, and this strengthens its stance as one of the largest Hindi film hits in history.
As of Saturday, the 23rd day in theatres, Dhurandhar had earned 668 crore net in India equivalent to a domestic gross of about 801.50 crore. This is a milestone that the film directed by Aditya Dhar has reached to be the fifth highest-grossing film in the domestic market in India. It is now following only big pan Indian blockbusters like Pushpa 2, Baahubali 2, KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR. Dhurandhar became the first Bollywood movie to have gone beyond the 650 crore net in India, which highlights the historic box office collection.
The film has gone on to perform spectacularly in the international front as it scurries to the 700 crore net mark in the domestic market. Trade estimates indicate that Dhurandhar has already surpassed the mark of 26 million in overseas revenues making its global gross roughly 1035 crore. The producers of the film, however, argue that the world collection has already reached over ₹1050 crore.
Dhurandhar has earned more than the lifetime international grosses of some classic Indian movies with this robust overseas performance such as Awara (25.8 million), Mera Naam Joker (22.1 million), My Name Is Khan (20.3 million), Dunki (23.7 million), and 3 Idiots (26 million). As much as it is still miles behind the all time overseas mark of Dangal at $258 million, trade pundits anticipate that Dhurandhar will overtake films such as Sholay ($28 million), Kalki 2898 AD, and Bobby (both at $29 million) in the near term before the film comes to an end in theatres.
