A massive protest was held outside the Delhi High Court on Friday against the decision of the Delhi High Court to grant conditional bail to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted in the Unnao rape case. The protesters strongly condemned the court’s decision, calling it against justice and demanded justice for the victim. Those involved in the protest said that granting bail to a person convicted of a serious crime sends a wrong message. They alleged that such decisions weaken the victims’ faith in the justice system.

The victim’s mother said, “Sengar’s bail should be revoked. We will approach the Supreme Court. We have lost faith in the High Court. If we don’t get justice in the Supreme Court, we will move to another country.” She added that the accused of her husband’s murder should be hanged immediately.

Congress leader Mumtaz Patel called the High Court’s decision a “huge setback,” saying, “It is extremely unfortunate that Sengar was given a free hand on technical grounds. This is setting a bad precedent for the country. This decision will shatter not only the victim and her family, but also women across the country’s faith in the justice system.”

Women’s rights activist Yogita Bhayana said, “We have come to the High Court today peacefully to have the injustice done to our daughter reversed and our petition heard. If we don’t get justice, we have the right to protest.” She stated categorically that the culprit in this case should not receive any relief.

The Unnao rape case, which surfaced in 2017, is once again in the news. The Delhi High Court recently granted bail to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted in the case, with certain conditions. Following the High Court’s decision, there has been deep outrage among the victim’s family, women’s organizations, and social activists. Although the protests remained largely peaceful, the deep concern about not getting justice was clearly visible on the faces of the people. The victim’s family says they will soon approach the Supreme Court and the fight for justice will continue.

It’s worth noting that Kuldeep Singh Sengar has been convicted in the Unnao rape case, and the case has already sparked widespread protests and outrage across the country. The High Court’s latest decision has once again brought the matter into the spotlight.
