As one senior person of the railway police claimed, an investigation is being carried out to ascertain the precise series of events. The police are reviewing the CCTV tapes in the area to determine whether the fatalities were caused by a tragic miscalculation during the crossing of the tracks or any other alternative such as suicide should be investigated.
The official also stressed that the issue of pedestrians passing over the railway track still poses a serious safety problem particularly in the places where footbridges or special crossings are not followed. This accident has again raised the issue of the risks of uncontrolled track crossing and the necessity of the tightened awareness and preventive measures near the railroad tracks.
