‘US will pay the price for civilians killed in Qeshm’: Iran as it struck US bases in Middle East
The Iranian army says its forces targeted strategic US military facilities at Kuwait’s Ahmed Al-Jaber airbase in a drone attack, hours after Jordan’s air defenses shot down five missiles launched from Iran fired in retaliation to attacks on civilians.
No injuries were reported from Jordan’s interception, reported Jordan’s state-run news agency said, quoting the spokesman for the country’s armed forces.
In a statement, the Iranian army said the attack targeted hangars, satellite communication systems, and equipment warehouses using drones. Adding that Kuwait facility serves as a vital hub for US aerial surveillance and operational support in the region, it called the attack a retaliation for US attack on Qeshm Island.
Iran’s army said it also struck US assets at Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa base. One worker was killed in an Iranian strike on a Chinese company’s building in Kuwait’s north.
US forces bombed a building on Qeshm Island, killing a couple and their two-year-old child. Explosions were also reported on Kish Island, in Bushehr and across four locations in Khuzestan. Iran said three IRGC members were killed in a separate US strike on Zanjan province.
Even as the attack intensified, “Negotiations between parties are ongoing, particularly on strait of Hormuz and to de-escalate,” Pakistani foreign ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi told media reporters.
Meanwhile, in Lebanon Israel has carried out massive midnight explosions across the southern regions of Yohmor al-Chqif, Arnoun, and Kfar Tebnit as reported by local media.The blasts resonated throughout the south, with shockwaves felt as far as Iqlim al-Kharrub and Khalde.
In the Marjayoun district, violent explosions near Beaufort Castle shattered windows and damaged homes in the nearby town of al-Qlaiaa.Local residents described intense shockwaves that shook the area, accompanied by a heavy smell of gunpowder.
Tank movements were also reported on the Bar’ashit hill toward Aynata in the Bint Jbeil District, alongside heavy explosions and vibrations across both the Eastern and Western sectors, local media reported.
