The area has been subjected to frequent shelling in recent days and witnessed an armed incursion from Ukraine last week. The regional governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, stated that the situation in the border village of Shebekino has worsened, prompting the evacuation of children from the most affected border areas. The initial phase of evacuation will involve transporting 300 children to the city of Voronezh, located around 250 kilometers (155 miles) deeper into Russian territory.
Furthermore, Russia claimed to have destroyed the last major warship of the Ukrainian Navy in the southern port of Odesa. The Russian army stated that a precise airstrike conducted by the Russian Air Force on May 29 targeted a ship anchorage site, resulting in the destruction of the Ukrainian warship named ‘Yuri Olefirenko,’ according to their daily briefing.
The situation in the region remains tense, with continued military engagements and escalating hostilities between Ukraine and Russia.
