The Israeli military said early on Tuesday air defences intercepted two projectiles that crossed from Lebanon into northern Israel, hours after peace talks brokered by Trump.
Countering it, office of Israel’s prime minister said later that Netanyahu had told Trump that strikes on Beirut would take place if Hezbollah continues to fire “at our cities and citizens”, while Israeli forces will “operate as planned in southern Lebanon”.
Hezbollah said it launched a wave of strikes against Israeli military positions, targeting troop gatherings, Iron Dome air defence platforms, and northern settlements on Monday.
According to a statement detailing 41 attacks throughout the day, the group said it carried out the military operations in response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement and ongoing assaults on civilians in southern Lebanon.
Salvoes targeted troop gatherings in the settlement of Kiryat Shmona, Ma’alot-Tarshiha, and an Israeli air control base, while an explosive drone struck an Iron Dome missile launcher, according to Hezbollah.
In southern Lebanese border villages, intense clashes and ambush operations took place against advancing Israeli invading forces.
Meanwhile, Iran’s chief negotiator speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who spoke on Monday with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri, regarding Israel’s invasion of Lebanon, threatens to pause peace talks if attack on Lebanon continued.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf said: “In my conversation with my brother, Mr Nabih Berri, the speaker of the Lebanese parliament, I emphasised that if the crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon continue, we will not only halt the dialogue process but also stand firmly against them.”
