US Vice-President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance are the parents of a fourth child, the first sitting US vice-president to do so in over 150 years.
The couple’s son, Alec Neel Vance, was born Sunday morning at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
The Vances were both pleased to have their latest family member, says the joint statement.
In the formal statement, it says that they are proud to announce that their baby boy has been born this morning! Usha and the baby are happy and healthy and our kids are super happy to have a new baby brother.
The wife and husband also thanked the medical officers and medical staff of the medical center at Walter Reed and the medical unit of the White House for their medical treatment and support during delivery.
Alec is the third son and fourth child of the couple. JD and Usha Vance are already parents to Ewan (9), Vivek (6) and Mirabel (4). The family, by and large, has kept its children away from the public eye.
The birth is seen in America as some rare event in history. Schuyler Colfax, whose son was born in 1870 is the last sitting US Vice President to have a kid while holding office.
The 41-year-old Vance has become one of the top players in President Donald Trump’s administration since his presidential inauguration this week, while also being one of the youngest Vice-Presidentians in history.
