Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it attacked three US-affiliated vessels and three oil tankers using an “unauthorised” route in the Strait of Hormuz.The claim came after the US military said it struck and destroyed three Iranian crude oil tankers in retaliation for attacks on US warships.
It warned other ships not to attempt to transit by unapproved routes. However, no official statement was issued by CENTCOM confirming the strikes.
“The heroic Naval Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked an American military unmanned surface vessel (remotely operated vessel) that was attempting to enter the protected area of the Strait of Hormuz,” the Guards said in a statement carried by Iranian state television.
Iran Foriegn minister Araghchi held calls with counterparts in Turkiye, Saudi Arabia.
He discussed “bilateral issues, regional developments, and the latest diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing stability in the region and eliminating the insecurity imposed on the Strait of Hormuz due to the US’s aggressive actions”, media reports said.

It issued a forced displacement order warning to residents of the Arab Salim municipality in southern Nabatieh.In a post on X, Israeli military spokesman Ella Waweya shared a map marking a building in red and told residents to leave the area immediately, warning of an imminent strike.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) on early Sunday said that it had sunk an Iranian oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman during a military attack, in what Washington described as part of its escalating campaign against Iran.
“Thanks to the precision and professionalism of American service members, the M/T Kylo sank in the Gulf of Oman today and joined Iran’s navy at the bottom of the sea,” CENTCOM said in a post on X
