Iran in retaliation to the attack that killed as many as 105 women and children targeted the US military bases in Kuwait and UAE on Thursday.
“This morning, the army hit the satellite communication systems, equipment depots and fighter aircraft hangars of the terrorist U.S. army at the Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait with missiles and drones,” the army said in a statement carried by state TV.
Iran’s army added that “the location of forces and radar systems of the child-killing U.S. army at the Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE was also attacked by missiles and drones of the army”.
The attack came despite threats from the US on further strikes in a fresh flare-up six months into the war.
Mr. Trump said his military was prepared to attack Iran “any time we want” after extensive U.S. bombardment of sites across the country left at least 19 Iranians dead.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, six commodity vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz according to preliminary shipping data. The vessels included two very large gas carriers, two long-range tankers, one Supramax tanker and one Panamax tanker.
A day after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made it clear that no country should help Iran evade sanctions.
“And if countries decide to do that, then we’re going to have to sanction them too,” Rubio said.
The sudden escalation of the Middle East war claimed at least 18 lives, including four killed at a wedding, media reported, citing Iran’s Health Ministry.
Sixty-one of the wounded were women while 44 were below 18 years of age. Among those killed in the attack were two women and one child, it added.
